Al
TERMINALS

Terminals
for 16 mm˛ to 630 mm˛ aluminium conductors are made of solid 99.7%
aluminium. We produce type AS and AK Al-terminals, but also many
customer-adapted connectors (including some larger than 1200 mm˛). The
Elpress system suits both stranded conductors, in accordance with IEC
228 class 2, and solid conductors, in accordance with IEC 228 class 1.
Type AK or bimetallic type AKK terminals are used to terminate
Al-conductors for connection to bus bars and apparatus outlets.
AS type tube terminals are used for jointing Al-conductors.
AKS type tube terminals are used for jointing Cu-conductors to
Al-conductors
Markings and number of crimps
When using sector-shaped Al-cable, round crimping of the conductor is
normally required, which is done with a round crimping tool. When
contact crimping Al-connectors, two crimps are always performed.
Al-connectors are marked with a logo, conductor cross-sectional area for
stranded and solid conductors, and references to round crimping and
contact crimping tools within the Elpress range.
When crimping is completed with the correct tool, the Elpress dies stamp
the sleeve so that all connections can be checked afterwards.
Except for the hobby tools, there is a built-in full closure system
which ensures that the complete crimping procedure has been performed –
a condition for ensuring a professional and high quality job.
